Questioning the Minister on Quotas Targeting EI Applicants

Ms. Irene Mathyssen (London—Fanshawe, NDP): Mr. Speaker, one has to only look at London, Ontario to see how Conservatives are failing Canadian workers.

Since 2006, London has lost over 10,000 manufacturing jobs and even today almost 3,000 more people are unemployed, yet the Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism, and Agriculture) is senselessly attacking Canadians on EI, and an EI whistleblower has confirmed Conservatives unfairly targeted first nations and new Canadians applying for EI.

When will the Conservatives end this attack on unemployed Canadians, on Londoners?

Hon. Jason Kenney (Minister of Employment and Social Development and Minister for Multiculturalism, CPC): Mr. Speaker, that member keeps up her track record. Really classy.

The allegation that that member has just repeated is shameful and completely false, and the person responsible for making it is lying.

(Translation)There was pressure for me to find fraud, even when there was none.

(Translation: Why do the Conservatives want to create fraud EI when they are not even able to fix the problems with their senators fraudsters?)
